“ Had the oxtail at SavanahBlue and it was incredible—so tender and packed with flavor. You can tell it’s made with love. The vibe of the place is relaxed and a bit classy. Definitely a spot I’d come back to next time I’m in Detroit. ”
“ Went here over the weekend to celebrate a birthday. Small place in an upstairs building with a greeter at the door. It was basically an upscale soul food place. We started with the crab dip, which came with these wonton cripsy chips fried perfectly and fried catfish nuggets. Both were really good. We had the mini honey glazed conbread that tasted good but just needed to be bigger. I ordered the Oxtails and Mac & Cheese. The portion size was great. The oxtails were seasoned perfectly over garlic cheesy risotto with a perfect cooked and flavored green bean. The brought a free dessert, which was nice for the birthday and our waitress was really good. The Menu did seem limited, but I really enjoyed the food. We would return. ”
“ Food was great. Had the catfish sweet potatoes and collards. Would recommend. Service could’ve been a little better. Server wasn’t particularly friendly. Just kind of blah. But I’m sure this isn’t an everyday occurrence. Wouldn’t have left a 19% mandatory tip. These restaurants are out of control. ”
“ From meeting and speaking with Dave at the door, to being seated by Gia, having Brittany as our waitress ....EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! Brittany was polite and knowledgeable, she made recommendations, let us know about happy hour, and checked on us throughout our meal. Everything was delicious and fresh! I had the catfish dinner, my sister had the whole snapper and her friend had the fried chicken breasts. The music and ambiance of this place is also so pleasant, mature, and chic. I recommend this restaurant and I myself will surely return without a doubt. Excellent!!! ”
“ My husband brought me here and knew I’d love it! The atmosphere was everything beautiful with black art hanging everywhere. Just a total vibe! The food was chefs kiss! I had the oxtails, with a side of greens, and he order the Savanahbleu Fried Chicken. We visit Detroit often and will be back! It was so worth it! Cleveland bound ”
“ Everything was delicious! Tried some different appetizers, delicious fried chicken and sweet potato pie for dessert. Chill dark atmosphere, friendly staff, and good service. 10/10 ”
“ SavannahBlue came really highly recommended from different forums online as well as from reviews, and I definitely see why! With this in mind, my first recommendation is to make sure, regardless of which day and time you’re planning on dining - make sure you have a reservation! And if you have a reservation during peak time, be prepared to have to wait a little before being seated. Now on to the fun stuff - the FOOD & DRINKS!!! Everything we ordered was delicious, seasoned to perfection and presented well. Overall, we were all really impressed with everything we ordered. I had the SB Jerk Burger, and asked for it to be light with the jerk - and it literally came out absolutely superbly seasoned and cooked medium as I had asked! I tried the Mac and Cheese that my father-in-law ordered, the Catfish fritters and the Kale Caesar & it was all 10/10!! The drinks were also really delicious. The ambience in the restaurant definitely gives grown and sexy vibes. There’s a grand piano in one of the main dining spaces, which leads me to believe that they have live music on particular nights - which I’m sure would elevate the entire dining experience. ”
“ I have been over a dozen times in two years as I live right outside of metro Detroit. It’s a great location to dine at before a show, concert or event downtown due to its location! It’s one of my favorite fine dining spot that offers southern comfort cuisine! My salmon jambalaya with shrimp is my favorite dish, it’s just so flavorful and worth every bite! I honestly have tried everything on their menu and overall everything is truly delicious and consistently good which is key to a successful long standing restaurant! I’m glad it’s getting the acknowledgement from foodies and the city recognizes them as a top southern comfort restaurant to dine at. Wonderful atmosphere, background music and ambience! We always take friends visiting us there for a nice evening dinner or before shows or events. Highly recommend! Staff and owner very attentive and they hustle! Make reservations especially on weekends!! ”
